Founded in December 1952, the men of Knights of Columbus Council 3574 have made a difference in the City of Jacksonville through works of charity, unity, fraternity and patriotism. We witness to Christ by serving his church and the community, brining home the global mission of the Knights of Columbus to live our faith in action. Council 3574 conducts a range of charitable endeavors to support disabled, honor our veterans, defend the sanctity of life, defend the church, encourage youth, and foster patriotism and civic duty. Our council through numerous fundraising events throughout the year, provides financial support through the North Carolina Operation LAMB foundation to organizations, which serve the mentally and physically handicapped. Principal among the local organizations to receive support is Carobell, Inc of Onslow County, a non-profit facility that provides care for developmentally disabled individuals with multiple medical needs. As Knights we support our country’s servicemen and women, at home and overseas. In fact, a large number of our brother Knights either currently serve in the military or are service veterans. Our Council Earns Star Award! Council 3574 has earned the distinction of Star Council, the Knights of Columbus top award, for the 2008-09 fraternal year. |
|
“The Star Council Award is quite an honor for us,” said Grand Knight Dale Graf. “We’re extremely proud of this accomplishment.” The award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership recruitment and retention, promotion of the fraternal insurance program, and sponsorship of service-oriented activities. The award was presented to the membership by the Immediate Past State Deputy John Gouldie at a 9 November 2009 awards ceremony held at the Infant of Prague Parish Hall. The dedication to the principles and aims of the Order shown by the council membership is exemplified by the high standard of excellence it has achieved during the year. |

understand that our military not only protects us, our wives, and our children; but they protect our way of life and our freedom. And often, they make the ultimate sacrifice. Knights of Columbus honor the flag of the United States of America and are proud to admit it. The council is involved in a variety of fundraisers, projects, and causes throughout the year. We help support vocations to the seminary, scholarships for high school and college students, support for Infant of Prague Parish in Jacksonville, and many other needs of the Catholic Community. Jesus said that we should be a light to the world. Council 3574 strives to be that light. We stand up as Knights to defend our Church, our Pope, our Archdiocese, our parishes, our clergy, and our people, especially the unborn. We believe in the sanctity of life and oppose abortion and euthanasia in all its forms. Life is a gift from God and is precious. Council 3574 provides its members an opportunity for wholesome association with congenial companions who are, first of all, practical Catholic gentlemen. Moreover, the council offers the opportunity for fellowship with those who are of the same belief, who recognize the same duty to God, to family and to neighbor and who stand side by side in defense of those beliefs. Programs are so organized as to appeal to the interest of the members. Through many constructive activities of Christian fraternity, members are enabled to render service to their Church, their country and their fellow man. Through membership they develop a consciousness of their ability to lead and to assist. |
