Rounded Rectangle: OPERATION LAMB
Since its inception in 1974, the LAMB Foundation of North Carolina has raised over $19 million dollars to assist people with intellectual disabilities.

The LAMB Foundation is a 501(c)3 public charity and an entirely volunteer organization named from a quotation from Matthew 24:40: ""…whatsoever you do to the Least Among My Brethren, that you do also to me."

It is also the main charity supported by the Knights of Columbus throughout the state. Each year the Knights, their families and friends stand long hours outside shopping centers where they offer free Tootsie Rolls to all passersby and ask for donations to assist groups that aid those with intellectual disabilities. Their smiling faces and bright yellow aprons have become familiar sights throughout this great state.

Another important aspect of the Foundation's fundraising comes from the generosity of corporate and individual donations. Thanks to that generosity in 2008 alone, LAMB raised just under one million dollars.
As an all- volunteer effort, over 92% of the funds raised go directly to program funding. 85% of the total donations is given to local charities and the remaining 15% is distributed by the Foundation to regional entities assisting those with intellectual disabilities.
Rounded Rectangle: Youth Scholarships
Every year our Knights of Columbus Council awards scholarships to local high school graduates who successfully complete a competitive application process. In the recent past, we have given two scholarships of $500.00 each.

The Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship is sponsored annually, with winners progressing through local, district, and state competitions. International champions are announced by the K of C international Headquarters based on scores from the state-level competitions. All boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are eligible to participated in their respective age divisions. Internationally, more than 179,000 sharpshooters participate in the Free Throw Championship.

The first Friday of each month at 6:30 am, mass is conducted for vocations in the Parish Daily Mass Chapel. All Knights are encourage to attend and show support for our Priests and Religious.
Rounded Rectangle: Soccer Challenge
Soccer is the most popular sport in the world.  We're the world's largest Catholic fraternal society.  It is only fitting that soccer and the Knights of Columbus have teamed up.  The Supreme Council is proud to announce a new youth program, the Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge.
Designed for players to demonstrate the most basic of soccer skills - - the penalty kick - - the Soccer Challenge will be open to all boys and girls in your community, ages 10-14.
The Soccer Challenge is one in which the soccer goal is divided into a series of five scoring zones, with a point value given to each section.  After the participant is given 15 penalty kicks, his or her total number of points will be awarded depending upon the scoring zones that were hit.
Rounded Rectangle: Additional Council Events
Some other events that the council sponsors each year are Family Picnics, Children’s Easter Egg Hunt, Various church and school projects for local parish, Corporate Masses, Dinners, Honor Guards, Family Movie Nights.

Council Activities

Knights of Columbus Council 3574 hopes to work wonders. We believe it is within our power (with our many programs) to help enrich the community in which we live. We recognize, however, that any successful Knights of Columbus program depends on people taking initiative, planning to suit specific situations and needs, then implementing the program in the way that works best.

The Knights of Columbus is a "Catholic, family, fraternal, service organization." This theme permeates the entirety of our activities.  We divide our activities into these three themes:

· Social

· Spiritual

· Service

Rounded Rectangle: Sunday Breakfast/Coffee and Donuts
On the first Sunday morning of the months, the council serves a Breakfast Buffet after the 8 am and 10 am masses at the Parish Hall. The meal normally includes a selection of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, French toast or pancakes, creamed chipped beef on biscuits, toast, orange juice, and coffee. On the third Sunday morning of the month, the council serves coffee and donuts after the 8 am and 10 am. Both events help to promote fellowship in the parish while also serving as a fundraiser to the council.
